The old and new Dresden-Teplitzer Poststrasse are among the Erzgebirge passes and formed part of the old route system known as the Kulmer Steig, which led from the Dresden Elbe Valley via the Eastern Ore Mountains to Bohemia. Today, the Old Dresden-Teplitzer Poststrasse in its Saxon section is considered the most complete historical traffic connection with post mileage columns preserved.

The Kursächsische Postsäulen are historic stone pillars built in the 1700s throughout Saxony to measure distances and mark postal routes. They were built by Saxony's ruler August the Strong in the style of the ancient Romans.

On the slope of the narrow hollow path ascending from Seidewitztal past Eulmühle to the plateau between Seidewitz and Bahre, you'll find, before the entrance to Niederseidewitz, the quarter-milestone No. 9 of the Old Dresden-Teplitz Post Road. Dating back to 1729, the stone was reinstalled in 1965, underwent repairs in 1983, and was secured and restored to its original orientation in 2012.
