    The site is called Bollenveen because in the past it was a raised bog with a convex shape. On the north side is a spot with an annular water gutter, where the tjasker used to stand. A new tjasker was built in 2001.
    It is assumed that the Bollenveen is the remnant of a pingo ruin.
