The Grafenmordstein in the Vossloch Forest is reminiscent of a criminal case from 1721. The Imperial Count was hunting snipe with a companion in the Barmstedt Forest when a bullet fired from the undergrowth fatally injured him. To this day it has not been proven whether it was a tragic accident, as initially assumed, or whether the murder was ordered by Wilhelm Adolf's brother. Last summer I took part in a guided tour of the manor house at Gut Deutsch Nienhof. When the subject of the house spirit came up, the householders said that Count Rantzau was the house spirit. Ever since I found out, I usually stop at Count Rantzau's grave.
