The Hoher Knochen mountain ridge, which belongs to the Lennekessel natural area, is the southwestern foothills of the Kahler Asten (841.9 m) and consists of the Vorderste Hoher Knochen (764.7 m) in the southwest and the Hinterste Hoher Knochen (approx. 750 m) in the northeast, which are separated from each other by a saddle (665 m) with two hunting lodges there and, like the village of Hoher Knochen, lie between the Lenne and its tributary, the Schwarzes Siepen. The Hinterste Hohe Knochen rises to the northeast to the Kahler Asten.
