The Laubegaster shipyard was built from 1895 to 1898. Until 1929, the legendary side wheel steamers of the steam shipping company were built here. In 2005 the shipyard was sold and renamed Schiffs- und Yachtwerft Dresden GmbH. Still here are among other things. the ships of the Saxon steamship and our ferries Caroline, Elbflorenz, Johanna and the castle ferry are serviced and repaired.

The Laubegast shipyard was established in 1898 in Dresden-Laubegast after the Saxon-Bohemian Steamship Company moved its shipyard from Blasewitz. It built paddle steamers for the Elbe steamship company and later specialized in motor ships, ferries and technical vehicles. After privatization in 1991, the shipyard experienced several changes of ownership and had to close temporarily in 2013. Today, under new owners, it concentrates on the repair and maintenance of steamships.
