The officer's residence dates from the French period (1794 - 1815).
It was built on the site where the fort's church originally stood.
The property has undergone several renovations throughout its history and has visibly changed its appearance. Around 1905, a floor was added to the original low building.
During the quarantine period (1849 - 1952) the medical staff of the hospital stayed here.
Later, the families of Belgian soldiers who spent their holidays in the Liefkenshoek fort and the Sint-Anna-Ketenispolder behind it stayed in this building.
