The Burghalden castle ruins lie above Liestal and date back to the 11th/12th century. They once served to protect the Ergolz valley. Today, only remnants of the walls and parts of the keep are visible. The short climb leads through the forest and offers a beautiful view of Liestal and the surrounding Jura hills.

Some remains of the wall are still visible from the old Burghalden. Certainly exciting for archaeologists. Apart from the remains of the wall and the information board, there is not much to see. From the bench you can take in the historical place.

The once mighty ruins once stretched across the entire rocky outcrop. Today, only the foundations of the chapel and the fortifications of the main tower remain.
Two bunkers from the last war, however, have left some of the ruins of the site.
