A beautiful elevated vantage point. This place exudes peace. It would be nice if history could speak here.

Absolute favorite place. At the harbor and yet a little quieter, park benches, tall trees and a place steeped in history. Nevertheless, I would find it exciting if archaeologists were allowed to dig here!

The fortifications that once stood here were called "Burg" or "Auf Burg". That's not really meaningful, after all the Römerschanze was its own island - one of three in the Lindau Lake Constance, next to the main island and the rear island. These were only connected to one another by embankments in the middle of the 19th century. The name "Römerschanze" was already accepted at the beginning of the century - when Lindau began to change from the ground up.
