The staircase district in Blankenese is characterized by winding streets, beautiful houses and many steps directly on the slopes of the Elbe. Once you reach the top, the visitor is treated to a sweeping view over the Elbe. The Elbe beach invites you to take a walk. The former fishing village also has an interesting history, as it was once Danish, Austrian and Prussian.

There are almost 5,000 steps in the entire stair district. This route alone (the beach stairs) has 170 steps.
