The origins of the Church of Santa María de Ocaña date back to the 12th century. It was the first church open to Christian worship in the town. The temple was built on an old mosque.
The church has a Latin cross plan with a single nave with three sections. It has 5 chapels and a baptistery-chapel. Noteworthy is the majestic choir at the foot of the temple.
