At the top of the 398-meter-long pier in the Baltic Sea resort of Grömitz in Holstein, a diving gondola transports visitors dry-footed into the world beneath the waves.

During the descent, staff provide an introduction to the Baltic Sea habitat, its inhabitants, its peculiarities, and its need for protection. They provide information about the animals and plants that can be observed on the seabed and in the open water, depending on visibility and the season: crabs, mussels, jellyfish, shrimp, tiny green and bottom-dwelling algae, gobies, and other fish.
