The existing Berlin AEG factories, such as those on Ackerstrasse and Brunnenstrasse, were built in the historicist style and were often known as "crenellated city castles." The building has been a listed building since 1956 and was restored in 1978. On Huttenstrasse (south side), there is a sign belonging to the then owner, Kraftwerk Union, with information on the construction, architects, monument protection, and restoration.
