The Mühlhausen power plant is one of the most remarkable facilities of its kind due to its favorable location on one of the many bends of the Enz River. The plant is operated with three Francis turbines, each with a capacity of 350 kW. To date, an average of approximately 4.2 million kWh of electricity has been generated and fed into the public grid annually. The plant complex consists of an impressive weir, the turbine hall, and the machine and switchgear building.

The water comes from the Mühlhausen dam through a tunnel to the power plant. The hydropower of the Enzschleife, with a gradient of approx. 7 m, is used to generate electricity. The hydroelectric power station was built in 1921.
