The historic post office building of the town of Braunfels (built in 1902) is one of the outstanding local attractions, along with the magnificent castle. As can be seen from the information board, it was an imperial post office until 1918 and then a state post office.

Above the portal of the entrance to the post office is a decorative gable, in whose gable field the imperial eagle sits enthroned. The coats of arms of the princely House of Solms-Braunfels and the House of Zollern can be seen under the double windows of a richly decorated bay window.
Formerly a tourist office, this has now moved to the market square.
