Castellane is a superb town located on the edge of the Verdon, 724 meters above sea level. It is dominated by the Roc, a huge rocky outcrop around which the city was located in the Middle Ages. It is pleasant to stroll through the alleys of the city, to admire the stone houses and to discover many stalls of all kinds. There are also several restaurants and cafes.

Castellane is a small, friendly town in the Alpes du Haute Provence department. It is centrally located along the Route de Napoléon (N85) at an altitude of just over 700 meters above sea level. Castellane is an old fortified town whose history dates back to before Roman times. Of the old city walls only the Tour Pentagonal and a small part of the wall remain.
