The Wehrgruppe Quitzöbel protects the Havel lowland before Elbehochwasser, serves the capping of a flood peak of the Elbe, regulates the water level of the Lower Havel and allows a Niedrigwasseraufhöhung the Elbe.
The Wehrgruppe Quitzöbel is a listed building. Due to their age and the poor structural condition, the WSA Brandenburg planned the basic repair of the WSV systems.
