The Palazzo Pitti was originally built from 1458 for the merchant Luca Pitti. However, because of his involvement in the Pazzi conspiracy and the attack against the Medici family, the building could not be completed at first. Only after the Medici acquired the Boboli hill did they continue to expand the palace. He served since the 16th century. as the residence of the Dukes of Florence.
