The town has four castles. The centre of the town is the market square with the St. George's fountain. The town is a medieval jewel. Be sure to go up to the rear tower. There is an elevator. From there you have a beautiful view of the town and the Schlitzer Land. Unfortunately, the restaurants are not tourist-friendly. The few restaurants only open from 5 p.m.

Schlitz, the castle town. A gem that you should really visit on the R 1 cycle path. Old, well-preserved buildings. Nice flair up on the castle hill. During the Advent season, the tower is covered with red cloth to make a candle.

Schlitz in the East Hessian Vogelsberg is sometimes called castles, there are several of them. Vorderburg, Hinterburg with Hinterturm, Ottoburg and Schachtenburg form with the inner city area of the city with many half-timbered houses, lying on a hill, a well-preserved, closed historical ensemble.
