The soldiers guarded the two railway bridges from a possible attack by the Germans. It was feared that they might use the railway line for their purposes. The line would have led from Basel via Delémont to France. Around 60 units of the Swiss Army served their watch duty in all weather conditions during the four-year occupation of the border from 1914 to 1918. also in a small rock cave on the north side of the street, which is no longer visible.
