Sainte Marie aux Mines is located in the valley of the Lièpvrette, which is still often referred to as Val d'Argent (Silver Valley) because of the mining industry that used to operate there. Several silver mines in the area of the municipality (outside the center) can be visited today, with guided tours in French, German and English. More detailed information

Sainte-Marie-aux-Mines is a French commune in the department of Haut-Rhin. The large free parking at the post office is a good start for a nice round trip to the various passes in this region. At the entrance there is a large supermarket for refueling.
