Napoleon stopped here in 1813 after his defeat at the Battle of Leipzig. The old street probably had a different course than it is today.
The beech tree to commemorate this event was planted in 1984 by the Club of Presidents of the Cold Market in Schlüchtern. A small pond and benches invite you to rest. Whether Napoleon is thought of is irrelevant.

The spacious rest area is next to a small pond and a beech tree that was newly planted in 1984. According to tradition, the Emperor of the French stopped here in 1813 on the way back from the Battle of the Nations near Leipzig to Paris. From October 28th to 29th, 1813, he has been shown to have stayed in the former Schlüchtern monastery.

If you're driving up or down the ridge past the old ammunition bunkers, be careful not to miss the entrance! It's a bit hidden, but the spot with the beech tree is beautifully situated and well worth seeing. 🌳🌲 #Ridge #AmmunitionBunkers #Entrance #Spot #Beech
