The south side, managed by the City of Lorain, includes ball diamonds, a concession stand, playground, picnic area, tennis and pickleball courts, and additional parking.
While Lakeview Park is a popular recreational area, the beach itself generally has restrictions regarding dogs, especially during peak season. It's best to check with Lorain County Metro Parks directly for the most current dog policy on the beach and in other areas of the park.
The park is home to several historical elements. The Historic Rose Garden, dedicated in 1932, features approximately 2,500 roses planted in a Rotary Club emblem design. You can also find several historical monuments, including one of the Lorain Easter Baskets, on the north side of the park.
Lakeview Park offers well-maintained paved trails that are suitable for leisurely strolls and cycling. These trails provide pleasant walks along the waterfront and connect various features of the park, including viewpoints and the iconic colored water fountain. The terrain is generally flat and accessible.
Parking is available on both the north and south sides of Lakeview Park. While parking is generally readily available, it can fill up quickly, especially during peak summer weekends and special events. Arriving earlier in the day is recommended to secure a spot.
The historic Bath House on the north beach side has been renovated and now includes eight family changing rooms, five of which are equipped with showers. There is also a concession stand operating during the summer months. Above the Bath House, the Rose Café offers a full menu and serves as an event venue.
While the beach and swimming are summer activities, Lakeview Park offers attractions year-round. In the winter, the tennis and pickleball courts on the south side are converted into a temporary ice skating rink, providing a unique seasonal activity. The paved trails are also suitable for winter walks, offering serene views of Lake Erie.
Yes, during the summer, a concession stand is available at the Bath House on the north beach side. Additionally, the Rose Café, located above the Bath House, offers a full menu and operates as a restaurant and event space.
