The first documentary reference in which reference is made to Villar del Pozo is the deed of donation to the Order of the Hospital, or of San Juan, made in 1226 by its owners (and perhaps also its first settlers), the rich men Alfonso Téllez, Garcia Fernandez and Ordono Alvarez.
