The Bridge of Lies is the oldest bridge in all of Romania and is one of the most famous sights in Sibiu! Made entirely of cast iron, the bridge is a real showpiece in the city.

Sibiu is certainly one of the best preserved medieval towns in Transylvania. If you ever visit the beautiful medieval town of Sibiu in central Romania, you should definitely check out one of its famous landmarks, the Bridge of Lies, which has some legends behind its name.

The oldest bridge in Romania, built in 1859, opened a year later, was built entirely of cast iron. It connects Piaţa Mică with Piaţa Huet In Sibiu. The Bridge of Lies contains four of the most beautiful legends that have been around in the country for 140 years.

Legend has it that couples in love walked on this bridge. The young people swore eternal love there, and the girls said they were virgins. But after the wedding night it was discovered that some girls were liars. They were dragged onto the bridge and thrown over the railing.
