The Watterbacher Haus is the oldest surviving farmhouse in the Odenwald. The building was completed in 1475 and now houses a museum. There you can find out more about the history of the house and about rural life in the Middle Ages.

The Watterbacher Haus Forest Museum is a historic gem in the Odenwald Forest. Originally a residential barn dating back to 1475, it was rebuilt in Preunschen, a district of Kirchzell, and now houses a fascinating exhibition on forest history. It shows how the forest has been used since the Middle Ages, from timber harvesting to basket making.
