The Dohnaisches Tor forms one of the entrances to the pedestrian zone in Pirna. Here you can still stroll in shops to the right and left of the path, just like in the old days, and you don't have the uniform shopping culture of today's supermarkets and department stores.

The Dohnaische Vorstadt is a historical suburb of Pirna. The Dohnaische Vorstadt got its name from its location in front of the Dohnaischer Tor, part of the city wall around Pirna's old town, which was razed in the 19th century. The Dohnaischer Tor stood at today's Dohnaischer Platz and was the passage of the Dohnaische Straße. The Dohnaische Vorstadt may have originated as a market settlement in front of the Dohnaischer Tor on the left and right of Breite Straße, previously called Breite Gasse. Wikipedia
