Sassenberg is an asparagus metropolis, a former residential town and a recreational area all in one. In the city you can see numerous historical buildings. The Feldmarksee beckons at the gates of the city and in the Füchtorf district asparagus cultivation is present everywhere. The Harkotten castle complex is also worth seeing.
