Easily accessible location, always on roads in good condition. until the 1980s the border was closed and it was forbidden to cross this Ribeira do Chança/Chanza. The most sought after products in contraband were coffee, wheat, tobacco, some crockery, sometimes even pharmaceutical products. In Alentejo, the trend was to take these products to be sold in Spain, for a better price.
