In the late 9th century a castle by the name of Uuirbinaburg is mentioned. At that time there were at least three places and two castles near Weissenfels that bore the name of Uuirbina. It was only later that qualifiers were added to these places in order to be able to distinguish them better. This resulted in the place names Markwerben, Tagewerben, Reichardtswerben and the place with the probably more important castle, Burgwerben.
