On the banks of the Dijle lies the historic Watermolen van Rotselaar, an impressive turbine mill dating back to the 13th century. Once one of the largest mills in the Netherlands, it now supplies green energy via a modern turbine, while the buildings now serve as an ecological housing project.

The Rotselaar Mill bears witness to a history of at least 800 years. This exceptional watermill on the Dijle was protected as a monument for its industrial-archaeological value and its surroundings as a village view.
Time and time again, people have found it worthwhile to invest in this building complex.

Large watermill, dating from between the 17th century and about 1900, with house, stables, barn and bakehouse. The dating speaks for its value as a rarity: especially in the countryside, there is not much 17th-century heritage left. External and constructive elements of the house and the mill building refer to the 17th century construction style. This is confirmed by written and iconographic sources. These features have been preserved intact over time.
