In the jamb of the former northern parish door there is a ashlar with a chessboard pattern with about 12 larger and 72 smaller squares. A second "chessboard stone" is located as a corner block on the south side at the top left between the profiled brick and wood cornice and the cornice. In terms of location, it could almost be a capstone. This checkerboard pattern is something like the stonemason's autograph.

Two checkerboard stones are a special feature of the Schmargendorf church:
In the reveal of the former northern parish door there is an ashlar stone with a checkerboard pattern with around 12 larger and 72 smaller squares.
Another checkerboard stone can be found in the southwest corner under the eaves (with hexagons, recessed triangles, rhombuses, wolf's tooth patterns and fields)
