The sculpture “Crouching Lion” is considered the most important find from the history of the monastery. The date is estimated around 1200. The figure made of local sandstone found in the monastery garden depicts a crouching lion on a sandstone base. The notches on the lion's back and the solid base on which the figure crouches indicate a function as a column support.
In 2006, a copy of the Höchst Lion was placed sideways in front of the church portal. The original is in the Hessian State Museum in Darmstadt.
