The historic building, known today as the Old Town Hall in the center of Diedenbergen, is part of the historic core of Hofheim am Taunus (Diedenbergen was formerly an independent village) and stands on the central square near the church and fountain.

📅 Original Construction

• The building was originally constructed as a warehouse in 1529 under the rule of the Counts of Eppstein and later served as the town hall.

💼 Use & Renovations

• For several centuries, it served as the seat of local administration before a more modern town hall was built.

In many traditional Hessian villages – including Diedenbergen – the church and town hall mark the historical center of the village:

• The church as a spiritual and social center, often dating back to the 16th–18th centuries.

• The town hall as the political and administrative center until the administrative reforms of the 20th century.

In Diedenbergen, the space between these two buildings has now been redesigned and developed as a central village square.

The Protestant church forms the historical center of Diedenbergen and visibly shapes the village center.

📜 History

• The current church building was constructed in the Baroque style between 1754 and 1756.

• Previously, a predecessor church stood on this site, which was already mentioned in 1591 as a branch church of Marxheim.

• The church is a listed building and of historical significance to the village community.

🏛️ Architecture

• Baroque hall church with a west tower and an east end with a hipped gable roof.

• Tall windows illuminate the interior, and sandstone portals adorn the long sides.
