Yürüyüş
Anyone interested in the history of the city of Göttingen will sooner or later come across the forest cover of the Göttingen Hainberg. The stone with bronze plaques is dedicated to Lord Mayor Georg Merkel. It was he who broke through the forest cover on the Hainberg. A topic that could soon get a new topicality again. Hopefully there are suitable tree species available.

Yürüyüş
Through the inscription panel cast in bronze with the words: "Lord Mayor Georg Merkel forested these mountains since 1871" it is pointed out that it was Merkel who had the Hainberg planted. Against many contradictions Merkel has carried out the afforestation in personal use. The simple, roughly hewn, rejuvenated block of stone with the portrait was reminiscent of this act, which was so essential to Göttingen.
