Assent, a Hageland sub-municipality of Bekkevoort, is located in an undulating landscape, surrounded by numerous witness hills of the former Diestiaanzee.
It has a single-aisled Church of Our Lady from 1847.
The protected windmill of the Mierenberg was transferred in 1959-1960 to Diest (the Lindemolen, on the Halve Maan).

A time capsule is buried in front of the church, next to the church you can see the former monastery (easily visible from the cemetery, brick art-deco building). The last victim of WWII (Hilaire Gemoets, a young resistance fighter who was shot by the Gestapo a few days before the liberation) is buried at the front of the street, and at the back there are more war graves.
