The American artist Mark di Suvero erected "L'Allumé," the German translation of "The Enlightened One," in October 1992 in Bonn's parliamentary district, directly on the banks of the Rhine. At that time, the steel girders gleamed a vibrant red. Over the years, the paint faded, the steel rusted, and graffiti marred the sculpture. Therefore, the Federal Office for Building and Regional Planning (BBR) carried out the restoration for approximately €50,000 on behalf of the owner, the Federal Agency for Real Estate (BImA).
