Translated into German, "Poll na Brón" also means "Hole of Sorrows". The megalithic complex is a so-called portal tomb and was built around 3800 to 3200 BC. Built in the Irish Neolithic. The Poulnabrone dolmen is an ancient religious site and burial site.

The Poulnabrone Dolmen (Irish: Poll na Brón, also Poll na mBrón – German: the Hole of the Millstone or the Hole of Sorrows, hence English: the Hole of Sorrows) is a portal tomb. It is located in the Burren, County Clare, Ireland, and was built in the Neolithic period, probably between 3800 and 3200 BC. The dolmen consists of two orthostats supporting a capstone approximately 3.65 m long. It was originally covered by a cairn.
