The view through the eye stone focuses on the Diedenshausen church. There are a total of eight of these stones in the town of Bad Berleburg, each of which points to a particular architectural monument. Strictly speaking, however, this stone is not actually on Berleburg territory, as the Elsoffbach down in the valley forms the state border between North Rhine-Westphalia and Hesse. But that's a whole other story...

I've given up trying to take photos through the holes. I've never been very successful at it. 😉
I took a photo of the town of Diedenshausen from the same direction.

In fact, the state border between Hesse and North Rhine-Westphalia runs right through the middle of the town. The stream is the border. The small settlement on the Hessian side is called Seibelsbach.
