Alter Schee is an old half-timbered village. There is a small street through the village and there are several well-preserved, beautiful old houses.
Today Alter Schee belongs to the district of Schee, to Sprockhövel.
Hard coal was mined in the area around Alter Schee as early as the 15th century.
