The Arco d'Augusto (Arch of Augustus) was probably built in the 1st century AD and served as a triumphal arch intended to symbolize the strength and power of the Roman Empire. Built of stone, it was erected in honor of the Roman Emperor Augustus and consists of a central passageway with two side niches that may have housed statues. The monument is a testament to the presence and influence of the Roman Empire in this area. The Arco d'Augusto has undergone various modifications and restorations over the centuries, but it remains an important cultural heritage and tourist attraction in Aosta.

On July 26, 2022, the inauguration ceremony of the bronze statue of Emperor Augustus, founder of the ancient Roman city of Augusta Prætoria Salassorum, took place at the Place de l'Arc d'Auguste d'Aoste.
Created by the sculptor Gabriele Garbolino Ru and donated to the Council of the Valley.
