Building dating back to 1086, part of the defensive system of the era of the nearby Monopoli. The structure was the seat of a Benedictine monastery inside which some relics of Saint Stephen (hence the name) were kept, later transferred to Putignano to defend them from Saracen raids. The castle, with a rectangular plan, is characterized by the presence of a moat as well as a wall. In the center of the courtyard there is an ancient well that was probably used at the time for water supply. Today the structure is privately managed.
