The Wet Horizon is the area on the south and east sides of the fortress that used to be flooded to keep enemies at bay. Between the rampart and the wet area is the Glacis, this is a gradually rising terrain towards the fortress. A flat terrain, so if you were a besieger through the water you came to this plain, where you served as a target for the people on the shore of Bourtange. Hard times.....
