From the Quay you have a beautiful panorama of Mariekerke and the mighty Scheldt that makes a wide bend towards Antwerp here. Centrally on the Quay is the statue of Emile Verhaeren by Leopold Van Esbroeck, which was unveiled in 1985. The Veerhuis is also located on the Quay. Around the 1900s an inn was located here. The house was completely restored in 1968. But nothing reminds us of the modest fisherman's house of yesteryear.

Sint Amands is an old village that we know for sure already existed in the ninth century. However, no buildings or other evidence of this period have survived. The oldest building in the village is the Sint-Amanduskerk from the seventeenth century. There are also a few houses from the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. Partly because of this you can get a good idea of what the village must have looked like in the past. The most beautiful houses in the village can be found in the Kerkstraat.
