The old Blockdammbrücke used to be a connection from the Prinzenviertel to Sangeallee north of the railway line and existed as a road bridge until after the war. The old superstructure was already dismantled by the DR in preparation for the electrification of the railways in GDR times because the elevation was not high enough for the catenary.
The temporary bridge built in 1982 over the railway site is the only secured cycle and footpath connection between Ostkreuz and Treskowallee over a length of 4.3 km Road connections are probably off the table.
