The former mill gate secured the entrance to the city from the south - remains have not been preserved. Four gates stood here to secure the city to the east. But never all at the same time. The bridge can be used as a guide to the location.

Mühlenstrasse (1259 Latin platea molendinorum) is the historic entrance to Lübeck's old town from the south. It connects the suburb of St. Jürgen with the center. The Mühlenstraße begins as an extension of the Sandstraße at Lübeck's third larger square, the Klingenberg, which has not found its urban design again since the destruction of the Second World War. Shortly afterwards, Mühlenstraße takes up the second important north-south axis of Romanesque urban planning in the 12th century, Königstraße, and leads to the Mühlenbrücke, where the Mühlentor once protected access to the city as the third Lübeck city gate.

Nice view from the mill bridge. On one side to the southwest you can see the Mühlenteich, on the other side to the northeast the Krähenteich.
