Yürüyüş

Noordheuvel, together with De Kuyck, forms a forest complex in a predominantly agricultural area. Natuur en Bos bought the forest from the Van der Voordt family in 1990. Around 1900, Theofiel Van der Voordt wooded his new property, which mainly consisted of heather and arable land. Hikers and riders can enjoy nature here on the provided trails, there are several benches and picnic areas along the way. Dogs and their owners can romp in the dog zone. In the rest of the area, dogs must be on a leash. Children can play in a large play area. Something for everyone.

The dry to moderately dry sandy soil is a very good forest soil, here mainly occupied with deciduous trees. Here and there you can find beautiful groups of prickly ferns and moss. The relatively old trees, 120 years, are attractive to cavity nesters such as black woodpecker, jackdaw, tit, tree creeper, pied flycatcher and tawny owl. The squirrel also finds plenty of food here. The amphibian pond is the ideal place for frogs, salamanders, toads but also for many insects. Curious about various nature facts, then definitely take a walk along the forest educational trail.
