The history of this camp, the fate of the detainees and the postwar processing - especially prosecution - was extensively documented in the mid-1980s.
In 1994, a memorial was given to the public at the site of the satellite camp. In a memorial of the former Israeli horticultural school Ahlem and the later prison of the Gestapo in Ahlem is a publicly accessible documentation about the camp.

The memorial on the Heisterberg has been a construction site for a long time. What was previously fenced in and separated from the accessible area as the site of the former Ahlem concentration camp will be made accessible to the public after the construction work has been completed. The poster on the site fence reads that the work should be completed in autumn 2020. A resident who, according to his statements, regularly walks there, reports that structural movements have not been registered there for a long time. Is it all due to Corona?

The design of the memorial is impressive and touching, but unfortunately it is currently very limited in its radiance due to the still existing fencing and the construction site-related mounds of earth. The completion of the extension would be very welcome.
