"... A shop (groceries, household goods and work clothes) of the Gutehoffnungshütte for the Vondern settlement, built in 1910 according to the plans of the architect Stephany.

In the side wing there was a casino, which was destroyed in a bomb attack in 1945 and rebuilt as a residential building in 1952...

Sold to SPAR AG in 1984, now also used as a residential building. ..."

Sales establishment IV of Gutehoffnungshütte was set up in 1910 to give the families in the Vondern settlement an inexpensive opportunity to buy everyday necessities. The colliery settlements were sometimes far away from the existing town and business centers. In addition, many traders took advantage of the sharply increasing demand caused by the rapidly increasing population with industrialization to charge overpriced prices. The sales office should counteract this.

Here you could already buy cheaply at the beginning of the 19th century.
The right part of the building was hit by an aerial bomb during World War II and later rebuilt.
