If the gate is open you can ride on the landing strip of the former military airport Soesterberg.
This road is closed from March 15 until August 15, because of the breeding season.

The east-west bicycle lane that runs over the landing strip is closed for cyclists from 15th of March till 15th of August (breeding season). The north-south connection is always open.

This former runway of the Soesterberg military airbase is now the largest bicycle path in the world. You always cycle in the wind, but it is also always impressive at the same time. Perfect for undisturbed sprinting, swinging, practicing wheelies, not paying attention to where you ride and all other forms of cycling. Asphalt enough.
Do pay attention when you plan your sprints here, given the closure from 15 March to 15 August. Coincidentally, the Skylark likes to breed along the asphalt during this period and it can't use our presence for that ;-)
