According to legend, before the arrival of the conquerors, a statue of Mark the Evangelist appeared on the beach that bears his name. To honor him, a small chapel was built in 1500 and later expanded into a real church: The current appearance of this church is due to the last reforms of the 18th century. Between its walls you can admire various statues from workshops from different parts of the world, such as the Cristo Yacente from Mexico, the statue of Santa Rosa de Viterbo from the Sevillian school or the Gothic San Marcos.
